Virtual Therapy

Telehealth offers a new approach to therapy.

Until the pandemic, most therapy has been in person. Since the pandemic, many therapists have transitioned their clients to virtual therapy, also called telehealth. This transition is the way of the world.

Telehealth allows clients who are distant to meet with their providers from anywhere. There is no need to worry if you don’t have transportation to get there.

It’s your session, and it’s up to you where you choose to meet. Imagine walking across your home to a private space and not having to rush through traffic to keep your appointment.

Consider any one of the following scenarios.

You’ve been at work the entire day, which was stressful. Your appointment with your therapist is after work. You are feeling exhausted and want to go home.

Sitting in traffic to go to an appointment before heading home is unimaginable. You may not feel like getting on another Zoom call, but you think, “I sure wish I could see my therapist virtually.”

Alternatively, you are a busy mom with a baby at home, and it is difficult to leave. To do that means finding someone to watch the baby, but you don’t want to be an inconvenience to anyone. Plus, you recently moved and have not yet made good connections with neighbors to be comfortable enough to ask them to babysit for you. What will you do?

In either of these scenarios, a virtual appointment may be most convenient. The world is becoming increasingly busy. Telehealth allows you to see your therapist from the comfort of your home, car, or job – wherever you have a private place, a device with video and audio capabilities, and a strong Internet connection.

You select what is convenient.

You are more available to your family if you’re at home before and after the virtual session. You also may be more comfortable in your home, which allows you to be yourself, remove the mask, and let your counselor see you as you are.

You will save money on gas with today’s outrageously high gas prices if you meet your therapist online.

Virtual therapy may be your best option if you have a medical issue or disability.

I wonder if these scenarios ring true for you. If so, I see clients virtually and look forward to meeting with you.

You may be surprised that you enjoy telehealth more than you imagined.
