Faith-Based Counseling

Hey God! Are you out there?

Sometimes, when you look at your circumstances and what’s happening in the world, you wonder if your faith makes a difference.

The Bible says, “You can do ALL things through Christ who gives you strength.” This verse sounds good, but your conditions make it hard to believe.

Scripture says, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made.” People around you tell you that you’re beautiful, but when you look in the mirror, it’s difficult to see anything beautiful.

What image do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you see yourself through God’s eyes or has your view become tainted?

Disconnection is subtle.

Do you find yourself feeling disconnected from God, disconnected from prayer, disconnected from reading your Bible, or anything inspirational for that matter? The pull away from Christ can be subtle.

You look up and realize that you haven’t been to church for some time. The longer you keep not attending church, the more life’s worries seem to block out the sun, while your fears seem to increase. And then you feel guilty for not living a Christ-like life.

You long to believe and be anchored in your faith again, but you’re unsure where to begin. You seem consumed by much doubt.

Would you believe that even Mother Teresa had doubts? Maybe doubt is more normal than you imagined. You wouldn’t know how much you appreciate the light without having had darkness. Similarly, you wouldn’t know faith without experiencing doubt.

You’ll be free – You deserve to be free!

Wherever you are on your faith walk, we can meet there. I can help you believe again and see how faith can help you conquer the mountain that’s in your way. You will find that freedom you’ve been longing to have.

What does your religious coping look like to you? When your religious coping is negative, it can show up in symptoms of depression and anxiety. If we engage in negative religious coping, we sometimes isolate, blame God or ourselves, and disconnect from God, those in our faith circle, and even ourselves.

I will not force my religious views on you. My education has taught me to integrate Christianity into the counseling process. As my clients are the professionals of their lives, I integrate faith in the counseling process at their request.

I also respect the beliefs of non-Christians who desire to integrate faith into the counseling process. I will help them identify what faith works best to enhance their counseling experience. Your doubts don’t phase me.

Let me help you navigate those stormy seas and rediscover the joy in your spirituality.
